An independent performance choir who rehearse in Ings, near Staveley Tongue Tribe was born from a commission to lead a singing project for the Staveley Carnival 2008. Following a thoroughly enjoyable 8 week process we produced 3 great public performances at the carnival.
With Tongue Tribe we have laid foundations for stretching participants as well as challenging ourselves as facilitators. Tongue Tribe is a “seriously fun” performance group exploring and gathering its own unique style of creative expression and entertainment. BBC Choral Fund In January 2010 Tongue Tribe received a BBC Choral fund which directly supported a diverse range of Summer performances with some of our own unique arrangements and songs. You may have caught us at a care home for elders or in Kendal town centre, at the Eric Morecambe statue in Morecambe or at Sedbergh Folk Festival.
The BBC Choral fund offered us as facilitators, some training for creating our own arrangements and a Tribal Groove workshop which encouraged us to explore movement and rhythm as a potential part of our tribal practice. Tongue Tribe is more than a regular community singing group. It is a commitment, a challenge and something to be proud of. To apply to join Tongue Tribe you will need…
