We are a female singing and song writing duo born and bred in tidal towns either ends of the UK; Barrow-in-Furness and Broadstairs.

Tongue Tide duoWe have been collaborating in song since 2007. We create rich lyrics, unusual harmonies and exude a powerful & emotive delivery. We hold a strong captivating stage presence and weave a set together comprising a choice selection of tongue in cheek covers fused with our own quirky, feisty, provocative songs. We entertain and engage our audience asking you to join our tidal current from laughter through tears whilst simultaneously sharing ludicrously lucid moments of meaning.

'Tongue Tide exude quality in their delivery combined with thrilling harmonies to produce an exceptional take on neo-acoustic music'

'I went from hilarity to outrage to passion to weeping all in one night. Thank you so much xxx'

I have always expressed myself through singing. I believe that the act of singing has the ability to access and exercise areas of the mind, body and spirit that are essential to having a balanced, healthy and vital life. I love working with people and believe everyone has a singing voice and the right to use it! I teach by ear and try to avoid technical jargon wherever possible in order to make singing accessible and experiential rather than a theoretical event. I strive to provide an informal, fun and safe atmosphere for learning and an environment that is supportive in order to explore the diversity of the voice.

Singing is my biggest passion in life. I have performed in many shows and productions from large scale theatre extravaganzas with Welfare State International to festivals with Sonic Tradition and Tongue Tide. I have 22 years worth of involvement in community arts projects. I have 15 years experience in delivering performance workshops collaborating with many organisations including The Sage Gateshead, National Touring Opera, Soundwave and Creative Partnerships. For the last 10 years I have enjoyed facilitating open access community choirs in the Furness area.

I have been tongue tied since birth affording me a cynical trip about this fairground we all play around in.

Always speechless with the madness of the world around me; as an artist I occasionally hit something on the head.

I have no musical training to speak of. I do have a burning passion to express, a burning need to be heard and a burning desire to explore consequential truths.

I have sung and spoken to myself since no-one was there to listen.

I came out of the singer song writers’ bedroom closet on realising that though some are hard of hearing, others are extremely attentive to what is not being said.

I have always been interested in others.

My passion has always been for live energy exchange through conversation and performance.

Over the years I have gathered experience in attracting, sustaining & averting attention to the dizzy heights of a 1st degree honours in Theatre Practice from The Central School of Speech & Drama.

'All the world's a stage,
And all the men and women merely players;
They have their exits and their entrances;
And one man in his time plays many parts'
Shakespeare – As You Like It
